The Hitlis Story
Since its initial release in 1974, I, along with countless others, believe the Yamaha YZ250 (and YZ250X) to be the best off-road motorcycle ever made. However, there is one often-cited issue with the current generation’s engine that has persisted since its introduction in 1999: it does not provide a linear power output. Additionally, no aftermarket parts have been able to offer the combination of full power and smooth control that everyone desires.
Among the many thousands of hours I have spent riding, working on, and trying to perfect these bikes, I found myself making a cutaway engine. This revealed the reason for the non-linear power delivery: spring resistance inside the PV box. While this spring resistance was necessary to activate the secondary power valves, it was unintentionally disrupting the linear nature of the governor. So, I set out to fix it.
With God’s help, I was able to envision a new system that linked the power valves to the governor while simultaneously eliminating this spring resistance. This new patented system gives the governor complete control of the power valves, and thus complete control of the power output. From there, my focus turned to the governor, and a new governor spring was created to leverage Yamaha's superior cylinder and power valve design. Additionally, adjustability was incorporated into this new governor spring, allowing each rider to fine-tune it to their liking; you can mellow it out as much as you want, or speed it up as much as you can handle. These improvements then highlighted the need to change the valve sequencing in order to make the perfect release of linear power. After trying hundreds of sequence combinations, we were able to accomplish just that.
What’s it like to ride? Simply put, it’s incredible. The bike’s acceleration and deceleration are as smooth as glass. Your newfound control of the power output makes you feel like a surgeon with a scalpel. Everything seems to work better; the traction is better, the suspension works better, the braking is more effective. You end up being smoother, which is safer, while at the same time faster and less fatigued.

Really lets the bike stay low in the RPM and use the torque rather than jumping to 10k at half throttle. Tight woods with rocks and short steep hill climbs we're much more manageable than before. I don't feel like she's going to jump out from underneith me. Same goes for at the track.
Did exactly what i hoped it would! I am using it strictly for motocross (51yr old vet)..still has crisp two stroke respone, with a nice linear pull with no surprises! I have it set at .9 woods setting and will probably leave it right there..excellent product!

I’ve ridden a lot more sleds than bikes, so my comparison after adding the HITLIS system to my 250X is reminiscent of going from an old 800 on to a new 850… you giggle every time you get on the throttle until it becomes normal. It also means the difference between thinking I can make a climb and knowing I can… hope that makes sense, but you can feel the harder pull through the power band in your legs and upper torso with the HITLIS and when Im carrying momentum into a climb I know it’s going to go, not try and hope… Tim was involved in the process from the time I ordered it through now… even down to the hand signed note with his phone number offering help if I need it at any step in the process… there’s not many businesses that I’ve purchased from that offer customer support on this level… huge comfort for me… very detailed video(s) outlining the installation and verification that the HITLIS functions appropriately before I fired up my bike… now I can only hope Tim decides to re-engineer the YZ125 powervalve so I can buy one… or he brews up another must have for the 250X… either way… well engineered product that should be on every 250X

This system is amazing and Tim surely stands behind his product with great passion for dirt bike riding !!! I am a 59 yo rider from Western Australia. I am on a 2012 YZ 250 with a high comp head from TSP, heavy flywheel, standard carby. I was looking at taming that explosive mid and get more linear power to reduce wheel spin. I Ride a mix of terrains, mainly single tracks some sand in summer but mainly rocky, slippery, hills with ruts in area like Nannup, Bridgetown, Kirup etc etc. Am no pro mechanic and I was a bit apprehensive at installing the system. I follow the very detail YouTube clip and Tim was also available via E-mail and texts with answering back to me within minutes…really incredible !! Installation was really smooth. Tim really helped me to set up the bike perfect to my needs as I tried wood and deserts setting I settled for the woods kit with retarding the ignition timing a hair, perfect ! Next will also do his carby mod that will be the cherry on the cake ! The power now feels is more but evenly spread, more crisp, more linear, the mid is no longer scary but keeps a smile on my face as I know when it hits and is very gradual and I can use it with the clutch now ! Traction is unreal, feels closer to a 300 power band than a 250
